Podium Finish for Joe Gambles at Avia Wildflower Long Course Triathlon

ASCEND believer Joe Gambles has finished second at the classic 28th Avia Wildflower triathlon in Monterey County, California, in a time of 4:01:58. Wildflower is regarded as one of the toughest half Ironman races around and features many challenging hills (including the notorious Nasty Grade) and a back country trail run.

This is the sixth time Gambles has tackled the course that is regarded as the ‘Woodstock Triathlon’ due to its remote location and the crowd of 30,000 it draws. The Australian triathlete spends six months of the year based in Boulder, Colorado and competing around the world.

Gambles, who uses ASCEND Elite Recovery and ASCEND Elite Protein Catalyst, was beaten on the day by a strong finishing Michael Raelert of Germany. This fantastic result stands Gambles in good stead for the Vineman 70.3 in July where he will defend his 2009 title.
